CLIMATE

Hong Kong has a sub-tropical climate and prone to monsoons. The temperature is usually around 15-33 degree Celsius. It rains a lot during the summer; while typhoon can occur up to five times a year.

Spring-February to May
The humidity is usually high in these months and the chance of shower increases. Do not be surpsised when housekeepers are busily replacing moisture absorbents in the closets. Eventhough it is not raining that day, you may find the walls, floors and handrails are damp.

Summer - June to September
These are the hottest months of the year. Temperature ranges between 25°C-35°C, with 80-90% humidity. These are also the months of thunderstorms and typhoons. If it scores a direct hit, the winds can be deadly and it may rain heavily for days.

Autumn - September to November
The weather gets cooler and the humidity drops quickly around mid September. It is most likely the calmest season in Hong Kong, which is more suitable for outdoor activities like Barbequeing and Hiking.

Winter - November - February
These are the driest months of the year. Although occasional cold fronts are experienced, snow and frost are very unlikely to form in Hong Kong, as sub-zero temperatures almost never occur. Thus, most residetial buildings do not come with central heating system.
