WANCHAI

Wanchai was made famous as the location of the 1957 novel and 1960 film 'The World of Suzie Wong'.

The numerous bars and strip joints in the red-light district part of Wan Chai are still popular with visiting sailors. Wanchai bars such as Joe Bananas and Chinatown are often crowded with expatriates and tourists.

Civilized individuals looking for a more relaxed atmosphere, try Mes Amis; Drinkers wanting a more raw experience should try Dusk Till Dawn.

The crowd you encounter in Wanchai may be much different from those you meet in Lan Kwai Fong or Soho. You would meet ladies who are Philippina, a few Thai and mainland Chinese, depends on your luck.

However, a great time is generally assured at all these places, though the atmosphere may appear a little strange on the first visit for non-party animals.

Although Wanchai may not be as crowdy as Lan Kwai Fong during special occasions or festivals, it is still a very popular spot for celebrations and parties!
